08/21N/AWonhee KoIntroduction to PHYS 599
08/28Soumendu Bagchi (ORNL)Arpan BiswasAutonomous scale-bridging frameworks to probe materials dynamics via extreme-scale atomisticsSoumendu is currently a research scientist at ORNL. His work focuses on scale-bridging atomistic simulations to study material behavior at the extremes with AI/ML-driven approaches. His expertise on developing autonomous lab for material discovery will be an interesting topic in this seminar
09/04Guang Bian (U Missouri)Yang ZhangDesigner Quantum States in Epitaxial Atomic LayersGuang is an expert on low dimensional topological systems, with MBE, ARPES and STM techniques.
09/11Adrian Feiguin (Northeastern University)Johnston & BatistaTime-dependent scattering approach to non-equilibrium and core-hole spectroscopiesAdrian is an excellent speaker and expert in DMRG methods applied to theoretical spectroscopy. He is also working on integrating these methods into AI workflows. This date is a placeholder until I can confirm a good window.
09/18Penghao Zhu (OSU)Ruixing ZhangTBAPenghao is an expert on general topological phases of matter. His recent research spans topological insulators & superconductivity, Floquet & non-Hermitian topology, optical response, etc. He will talk about a new Majorana phase in a chiral spin liquid.
09/25Heda Zhang (ORNL)Yang ZhangTBAHeda is an expert on transport experiments of magnets. He will talk about the measurement of phonon angular momemtum.
10/02Kab-Jin Kim (KAIST)Joon Sue LeeSpin dynamics and transport in emerging magnetic materialsKab-Jin is an expert in spintronics. His research spans magnetism in general, logic/memory devices, and topology (skyrmions).
10/09Lucile Savary (UCSB)Cristian BatistaLucile is an expert in quantum magnetism, currently focusing on spin dynamics, quantum spin liquids, and anomalous transport in quantum magnets. I will cover the expenses for this visit from my own grant.Lucile is an expert in quantum magnetism, currently focusing on spin dynamics, quantum spin liquids, and anomalous transport in quantum magnets.
